GJEPC and Bharat Diamond Bourse to host the ‘Diamond Detection Expo & Symposium’
The ‘first of its kind’ Symposium will be held on 15th & 16th December 2015


The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), the apex body of gems and jewellery industry in India in association with Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) will organize a Diamond Detection Expo and Symposium (DDES) at BDB, Mumbai on 15th & 16th of December.

DDES, an educative initiative is organised with an objective to impart knowledge on synthetic diamonds, its detection through various technologies available. The 2 day event includes display of latest equipment/machinery and service providers’ active in Diamond Detection business, along with proficient talks and panel discussions with renowned experts from the trade.

Mr. Praveenshankar Pandya, Chairman, GJEPC said, “It is very vital that everyone working in the industry is aware of what diamond simulants, synthetics and treated diamonds are, even though they may not choose to trade in them. This symposium will work towards sensitizing the trade and equip them with technology and knowledge to battle the threat of mixing and protect consumer interest.

Mr. Anoop Mehta, President, BDB added, “The main mission is to educate the traders around the country about the Synthetic diamonds with an end view of promoting fair trade with the full disclosure.

This Symposium will feature prominent laboratories/institutes such as GIA India, HRD Diamond institute, IGI, IIDGR (De Beers), GII , DRC Techno, Bruker and IDI-DDRC as the exhibitors.

In addition to the wide array of latest equipment and tools exhibited to detect the synthetic Diamonds, the 2 day Expo will also feature Expert talks and Panel Discussions covering important topics pertaining to Synthetic diamonds, its detection & available technology. The Seminars will have presence of globally renowned Industry experts as Speakers & Panelists. The prominent ones being Dr Philip Martineau from IIDGR (De Beers), Dr. Jean Pierre Chalain, SSEF , Mr. Wuyi Wang from Mrs. Seema Ashish Athavale, GSI, Dr.Thomas Hainschwang, GGTL, Thomas Moses ,GIA USA along with Ellen Barrie, HRD Antwerp, C K Venkataraman, Titan Company Limited. GJEPC will be represented by Mr. Russell Mehta, Vice Chairman & NDMC Convener, Mr. Ashish Mehta while Mr. Anoop Mehta, President, BDB will represent Bharat Diamond Bourse during the Seminars. The Seminars will be moderated by leading Industry consultants Mr. Pranay Narvekar & Mr. Nilesh Hundekari.
