Delmer Opdel Technology Pvt. Ltd.

  • Delmer has been servicing the Indian gems and Industry for quite some time now. Please share with us your experiences and how has the Indian Industry evolved, as today technology such as 3D printing, has become prominent in the country.

  • We started in 1987 by bringing in digital scales to the gems and jewellery industry followed by other innovations like that 3-D printing which too is now a decade old, Now we're focusing on the future of nanotechnology in precious metals. As for the Indian industry, it has accepted new innovations and technologies very well if and when they have access to it. When we brought in electronic weighing scales into the market, everyone was confused as to how this will work without another pan since everyone was only used to the two pan balances, but now the Indian jewellery market can not transact without these electronic scales. Growing with and helping the gem and jewellery industry grow has been a long and exciting. The biggest opportunity lies in rural India, where there is still limited access to latest technologies and customers are more then keen to adapt to newer technologies.

  • How do you see India as a potential for your products and which are those products of Delmer that you see a potential market in the country ?

  • The future of industry is into traceability of precious metals and stones, this will help control malpractice which has been exploited very much, so a lot of investments will go into identification, testing, and determination of purity and authenticity of the metals and stones. Delmer's weighing scales, furnaces, heat treatments, melting and polishing machines all fit into the applications of the jewellery market. However, the most important expertise of Delmer is to know-how to setup turnkey projects like building up state of art bowl testing laboratories, precious metal collection centres, refining plants, and high tech jewellery manufacturing facilities.

  • How important are shows and exhibitions for you and do you see business growing after participation in such shows ?

  • Shows and exhibitions are a crucial part of growing as a business and have great importance for me. Hence, Delmer recently even held their own symposium in Vadodara, for educating the industry about the newest technologies. It was our way of contribute and giving strength to the jewellery industry.
